You hear artists complain that labels won’t let them drop.

    Designer most recently.

Is it that they literally won’t let them drop or they won’t do stuff like pay for studio time?

I’m guessing it’s because they put resources into one artist, the drop, then they rinse and repeat with the next artist.

    No buzz for the album

No return on the money invested on the single

Meghan Trainor released the first single for her new album in March 2018 and the album got pushed back all the way until Feburary 2020

Just a label delay that interests me

But there are cases where it seems there is buzz but they don’t have resources to invest in all the artists albums simultaneously

A lot of soundcloud rappers are about to get hit hard by this

We all know about Lil Uzi and Eternal Atake
Lil Xan is already getting it
Lil Pump will probably never drop another album

Jay put a stamp on the nigga but wouldn’t mail him
If he couldn't sell him, so what that tell him

The album isn’t good or the artist didn’t respect the labels schedule

  • Feb 24, 2020

Usually it's either A. Not enough recouping on the single.
    B. Somebody else popping on the label and they focusing on that person right now.
    C. The artist isn't really moving the needle so the buzz isn't there.

    Or finally

    D. They had a successful single but compared to all the traction the album isn't up too par. So the labels make them go back and try to make some more "Single" worthy tracks to put money behind when the first 1 dies out.

Mostly its because they dont care about the artist yet they want to keep them on their roster so no one else can have them
