  • It’s always something that bugged me when an artist you don’t like at all drops something and you listen to it just to say it’s bad?

For example, I don’t enjoy most of Eminems stuff. Just not my type of music interest. Why would I listen to his most latest album when I know I will not enjoy it?

Do people get a kick out of having there thoughts to be confirmed that they still don’t like it?

    Who does this?

    Who does this?

How many people have you seen in album threads go on there to reconfirm that they knew it would be bad 😂

Although I do half agree and artists I have absolutely zero interest at all I will ignore completely, but:

How can you speak on something if you don't at least give one listen

How can you're kind potentially be changed if you don't at least one listen

If you don't want to be part of a convo or have at least a little bit like of the artist tho then I get it, but the people that try to join convos without even listening are even worst than a hater listener imo

How do you know if you like it or not before you listen to it

So they can hate with the context of what they are hating instead of blind hating

Most of the time people listen to new things of an artist they once liked or were interested in. Hoping they can recapture some of the magic of why they were interested in the first place. And if they don’t meet that, the listener gets disappointed

If you TRUELY hate an artist like absolutely everything you’ve ever heard from them. most likely you arnt listening to new s***

  • no one does this

people will say they enjoyed an artist’s music in the past or a handful of songs and will check out new stuff to hopefully see if it’s a return to form or whatever

y’all just conflate anything that isn’t d***riding as “hate”

I mean I'm always willing to give a new album a go if I have a slight interest in the artist, even if I don't really care for their most recent music. You might just find something you like.

But yeah I'm not gonna put myself through a new Chris Brown or Morgan Wallen 40 song slopfest

  • maybe to give them another chance and try to see what other people see in them

i agree though if you're coming in with the mindset that you won't like them and finding nitpicks to s*** on them you're being annoying

  • bought into the hype

    it’s pretty obvious imo

how can you give your honest opinion on something if you’re just regurgitating someone else’s take?

plus, there’s the chance you might genuinely enjoy it

    this too

  • that's called ethical hating

  • If I don’t like an artist i will never click play on a project of theirs

  • May 28

how am i supposed to know i don’t like it if i won’t even give it one spin? like there’s no way i woulda known about what I was gonna hear and hate on a song like Princess, but it’s a song i won’t revisit but despite disliking it, the lyrics are interesting from Drake cause wtf you doing bruh? lmfao why you want to live like this

You can hate something and still create discussion around said thing cause you know…art conversations, especially nuanced music topics, don’t have to be one way?

Follow up: When people decide "eh not for me", why do they then decide to seek out online spaces for that artist?

you never been in a debate? lol. that’s how they happen and how you get your opinion shifted whether positive/negative

Not really with music unless it is in said artist's (that I am a fan of) spaces.

If I listen to a project by an artist I don't like, I just say "eh not for me" and move on with my life.

  • 1. i like listening to music
    2. I'm always open to be surprised

  • for instance first time i heard Lil Baby i thought he was a lil generic but then i listened to his projects with an open mind and he became one of my fav rappers at some point

ive had a few cases where ive checked out an artists discog and i didnt like a majority of their albums, but sometimes they'll randomly come out with an album that ill actually f*** with. i just had this happened with brent faiyaz a few years when he dropped larger than life

most of the time it really isnt hate itll just be an artist i used to be a big fan of in the past like a drake or kanye and they'll repeatedly drop lackluster ass albums leaving me very skeptical about their new releases or to a point of not even checking them out at all. im at this point with kanye already and damn near with drake

I mean if it were the other way around it would be "why are you criticizing something you haven't even listened to"

Gotta try to give everything an open mind
