all this is straight facts
I wonder why stans enjoy arguing? Like sometimes it does get fun or funny to just argue back and forth about which fave is better. Not to the extremes like @op examples, but just the normal banter in threads can be fun to do and funny to watch
Same way people are fight about sports, politics & anything really
It’s human nature to engage & communicate with each other
Not to mention it fuels our innate narcissism & ego to enforce our opinions/ideals
People are so delusional they like to act as if idolizing music artists or music fandom culture is weird but turn around then go to bars & yell at random strangers over sports games
@DAVIDP I always wondered if that was you in your previous avy
(portrait photo of a white man, white blonde hair, staring eyes wide open at the lense , blue jacket)
Nah that's not me
I'm not even kidding, this is something I've noticed.
Why do people do this? Why did being a "die hard fan" turn into "stanning"? and what are the reasons that this develops from someone just being a music consumer?
Does it stem from insecurities about liking an artist?
Few circumstances:
I left a few comments in a Drake thread last night (not even making fun of Drake or his music) just making quoting an avi and 3-4 different people swarm me and straight up just go all in at me calling me "reetarded" or "an loser" or "virgin"
in some Kanye threads I was in a few months ago someone actually posted my face into the thread that I posted in the "post pictures of yourself" thread
I'm pretty sure I didn't even do anything to anger anyone either.
Lucki era, where one of those freaks actually called my work and almost got me fired
(can't make this up).
That unnamed user we all know would message me at midnight "fuck you, loser, cac, virgin, etc" all because I said his favorite artist sucked ass
I mean you can't make this s*** up, are these people mentally ill? Why does someone take defending an artist THIS far? It's just music at the end of the day...
Ya'll some sorry mfers

Stan Twitter calls people the f word, tells people to kill themselves, has way more unfiltered toxicity than ktt imo
They spam other people's posts with to promote their fave
I heard about a reality tv show host that killed themselves some weeks ago (British tv) and kehlani attempted due to slander mainly on social media
To act like its "THe SaMe ThINg as KtT" is foolish imo.
The only similarity between ktt and Stan Twitter is that we discuss pop culture.
This site is way more monitored plus there's a sense of community since there aren't many posters on here (in comparison to Twitter with millions)
I don't think anyone could get away with telling someone to slit their wrist unironicaly without getting jumped virtually by other posters and eventually banned.
Edit:doesn't mean there aren't weirdos on this site like the ones who harassed op, maybe the percentage of toxic people on Twitter is bigger due to their huge following which makes it seems like somethings wrong with their platform all together
My bad then
it's from this: asdfasdfsd.ytmnd.com
Found this accidentally and it became my avi

that legit scared me
When you would legitimately consider voting for them in a presidential election

I agree with the post but don't try to act like the comment you left yesterday wasn't party pooping and mean spirited
Its okay to be a fan or even a super fan but when liking someone starts to cloud ur judgement then its a problem
it's the beginning signs of mental illness when you call you're a grown man calling yourself papis angel
imo you can love an artist and their music unconditionally as much as you want to if you mind your business in the process
but when it gets combative & aggressive to the point of the events in OP then there are bigger problems.
Someone surely mentioned the vicariously living problem
It stems from childhood
No drake stan had a father that told them they loved them
Probably something to do with taking on the characteristics or persona of the artist. Then any criticism of the artist vicariously becomes a criticism of you
It's a parasocial relationship as well as a vicarious experience. You get to project a friendship without the hazard of navigating an actual relationship while also deluding yourself into thinking you share enviable qualities with somebody you respect.
Mental illness is a term I reserve for behaviors that hurt your quality of living . Plenty of sports fans do this s*** without it ever having repercussions. Every NFL dad says "we" when referring to the team. It's certainly a phenomenon. It just seems like the final stage of branding and commodification that the pseudo intimacy of the digital age facilitated. As we become more alienated from the actual people around us we find easy alternatives in media.
