Especially rappers like Lil Durk or Gunna who are not on that indie Brockhamptom wave. It’s obvious they don’t wanna do it and it can’t be worth the time, effort and mental strain that comes with interacting with Redditors. Why do labels push for publicity for such a niche audience?
Except reddit isn’t as niche as you think it is. A lot of people use reddit, their normal people and not in the ‘redditor’ stereotype because they aren’t obsessed with it and mainly lurk
It's 2 millions members on that subreddit and takes like 30 min. The label most likely have no idea what the community is like and just looks at the promotion potential

A lotta numbers have to be from bots/inactive accounts. Also it’s not advertised like interviews. You have to be a Reddit regular and be checking the sub to catch the AMA
theyre so funny to read esp when they get mad because its obvious the artist doesnt wanna answer their lame ass questions

Scrolling through their overplayed, lame joke comment chain just to see a 3 word statement that was written by their PR :
I wonder how much more streams/sales Reddit AMA provide for established artists

lots of rappers have dedicated subreddits. it's easier to gain supporters when there's a whole community on reddit to show someone who's never heard your music
