  • Album releases used to feel like events and have build up.

Why is this mostly gone now?

    ICEMAN.

  • brat felt big

  • This has been explained to death

Not enough ppl like the same things anymore, we all have our own interests, celebrity is less respected more than ever, which I personally think is great

That’s why it’s always the corniest nigga you know claiming “everyone” likes what they like

Why is this mostly gone now?

The death of monoculture has affected music more than any other medium because of how easy it is for anyone to release music

One person can record, mix, master, and upload an entire album from their bedroom and find a fanbase on the internet

That same thing happening isn’t really possible in film, television, or video games

It’s how there are still regularly blockbuster films and video games that dominate the zeitgeist and watercooler TV shows every now and again, but the omnipresent album is a much harder thing to come by nowadays

  • You don’t remember when Kendrick Lamar f***ed up the party and scared the hoes away forever with that MTG song?

  • I dont force everyone to sniff my s***. So why do you?

Because you’re too busy to tap into the artist building the world for the album and pre-album promo via interviews, features and singles

  • we all have access to the internet now
