thought we were leaving the race wars behind wit ktt1

why can't we all listen to the music?

    stop dismissing street artists

stop being pretentious when you present your opinions

stop propping up token artists to make it look like you know more about hip hop than you actually do

stop acting like you care about black culture when the only source of knowledge you have is kanye’s twisted forever shifting worldview on it

stop discrediting black art because it’s not “experimental” or “advanced” enough for you

stop propping up albums that step off the beaten path and hyping them up as the greatest thing ever, that’s almost like you’re patting them on the head because you have such low expectations for rap music (examples: atrocity exhibition, flower boy, TPAB) <—————- also this is not a dig on the quality of said albums, it’s about the offhandedness of it

    stop propping up white critics

i could keep going, but this would be a good start, we can leave race behind when y’all correct your misconceptions on rap music and hold your biases in check.

Ignorance, you my man but this isn’t a race issue bro, this is more a kids vs OG’s thing imo. Sure the white kids are probably the most annoying (ikarus for example) but you can’t generalise rap fans by race imo

check out that meek mill sub thread and you’ll know where this is stemming from bro

im genuinely like confused lol. rock has black roots but it’s pretty much consensus that white people dominate it/it’s p much their genre, niggas do NOT go to rock fans and tell them who’s the “goat” in their genre, what projects are the best etc. but why doesn’t that sentiment resonate in rap? it makes no sense to me

sure you can turn around and say “lolol everyone’s opinions r equal op a dummy race bait” but we all know that a black hood nigga’s experience with rap is radically different than a white suburbanite’s experience with it, and to ignore that is blatantly ignorant and leads to a s*** ton of misunderstandings and disconnects when discussing music,

not to mention they do it in such an arrogant manner and use white critics to justify their opinion further. however, certain artists tend to particularly appeal to one or the other, GOAT artists tend to have both of these crowds on lock though.

am i jus tweaking? am i making any sense?

    Subconscious entitlement

youre saying white people should not dismiss black artists but youre also saying you dont want them to engage in the culture period. youre contradicting yourself. obviously the majority of white people arent gonna relate to street artists but they arent holding them back. if there werent white people in rap the industry would be so much smaller. theres a reason why street artists dont go mainstream. but no one is holding them back.
also the point that you made that people are discrediting black art is also incorrect, most people just ignore it because they cant relate. also critics are critics regardless of race and you are being very racist just think if it was the other way around. once again ill just paste the definition
Racism is the practice of discriminating against people based on their race, national or ethnic background.
