Can someone please explain this to me? I’ve tried to pick this s*** up 3 separate times and I just end up forgetting about it. Why are people saying it’s the LITERAL greatest game of all time? Like yeah robo dinosaurs are cool but like cmon. I heard someone say it’s the best combat they’ve ever played in an open world game. Like WHERE? These toothpick arrows? The innovative melee combat? I just don’t understand am I missing something?

Theres lots of setups and stuff when you get midway in the game. different kinds of gadgets and weapons to use. It's also one of the best uniquely looking open worlds there is tbh.
It had a good story that was kinda eh at first but it got extremely interesting in the end, the weapon and tactics you could use were great, beautiful world and fighting all the different bionicle dinosaurs was fun
Personally I am not a big fan of its formula but the story and especially combat still made me enjoy myself quite a bit.
It’s very pretty, has a bunch of interesting looking dinosaurs, and the open world is quite unique.
Lore is kind of cool, I don’t think the quests/storyline was as strong though. Execution missed a little.
The story is some Disney channel Zenon: girl of the 21st century type s***
The entire act 3 is just “go after the villain” s*** like so cookie cutter
The final boss is a rehash of an earlier boss lol
But visually the game is awe inspiring. The environments and the robots are incredible. One of the best looking ps4 exclusives but god damn did the story not deliver
If they hire better writers for forbidden west it could be a classic. PS5 graphics + horizons aesthetic is gonna be crazy
The background story was really cool. Graphics are crazy, environments look amazing. Combat is pretty cool but nothing to write home about besides taking down unique Dino-robots as a concept is lit lmao I’m glad it didn’t take itself too seriously as a concept and they ran with it well.
NPC’s and side quests were completely forgettable though and unlike BOTW there was basically no reward for exploring. Plus traveling the map was boring except for how pretty it looked.
Angone who says best of all time is capping but the gameplay is 10/10
Story and lore is pretty good and graphics obviously are amazing. Only thing that lacked was the facial animations and cutscenes. Oh and the final boss was kinda underwhelming.
im playin it rn and it doesn’t have greatest game oat potential lmao, it is a fun game though
Gameplay is fun when you try and be creative with your tools and set ups. You can approach encounters very differently every time and the weak points and different machine parts actually make a difference if you go for them. If you try and play the combat a super standard way it's boring as hell and the story takes a while to actually pick up but once you get through it, it clicks really well.
I played it and got bored so I literally stopped for months and almost deleted it. Around the first lockdown I got back into it and it took me a little to really start liking it but once you get some weapons and tools it gets way more fun.
Look up combat highlight and you'll see way more fun ways to approach the combat

Pretty much exactly what’s happened to me in the past day...smh it’s actually pretty good.
Personally, it might be my favorite video game storyline/writing of all time. That twist was incredible and better than most movies. So that’s what really stuck wit me way after the fact, but the gameplay and world design were amazing as well.

Just beat it today, along with frozen wilds. The story is great, keep going
totally forgot what the game was about tbh
the gameplay is aight and world is pretty cool
looks beautiful, like one of the best looking games just replayed it on PC at 4k 90fps felt like a new game compared with the PS4
biggest thing I like is the gameplay.. on the very hard setting you have to figured out the best weapons and spots to hit for each machine especially the larger ones and the machines come apart like giant bionicles.. you get into a rhythm when you're hitting every shot on the machine in the right spot
story is good, it's kinda generic scifi but I'm about that s***
