What does Jay do that Nas aint?

Jay can be as lyrical as Nas
Nas could never make as many hits as Jay

hes very charismatic and has a very natural swag where he can say anything and it sounds hard, he has an amazing ear for production, and i definitely like more albums from him than nas

“Has music for more settings” is probably one of the few qualities Jay has over Nas, he’s simply more versatile and greater variety throughout his discography.

i put jay z over nas for his philanthropic ventures in new york teaching impoverished black kids to mine for bitcoin and trade bored ape nfts

But jay has better flow, best selection, puns, has the hits, and more influential

Also think jay has the better albums

He was better in their primes and had a larger impact on the culture

Nas came in hot with Illmatic and iww and he’s finishing strong now but from 98-11 he couldn’t touch Jay

I mean yeah he Ethered him and all that but album wise hits wise features wise flow wise and just over all culturally Nas wasn’t on Hov level.

Stillmatic, Lost tapes, Gods Son, Untitled etc some great albums but they don’t compare to The Blueprint, The Black Album, American Gangster, WTT etc, Jay was in his bag at that time

2012-2019 they were kneck and kneck. Both dropped grown man classics (LIG, 444) and a couple misses (MCHG, Nasir, EIL, Lost Tapes 2 etc)

2020 - present Nas been stomping a mud hole into Hov spinal cord but it kinda matters less now since they so old and it’s not like Jay last drop was cheeks, AWT was super impressive

better flow, better variety and versatility, better beat selection, just as good lyrically arguably better, more consistent discography, feel like he was more willing to challenge himself musically. also i just enjoy listening to him more

plus his interviews are hotter… holla!

I feel like theyre almost equal on terms of skill. But Nas had a really bad ear for beats that lasted almost 5 albums. For a while he just sounded behind musically and Jay was evolving while still keeping lyrical prowess.
