With the Honestly & Her Loss drops if you notice all the social media discussion/memes

With Honestly it was gay jokes in general simply because he was singing and doing Dance music.

With Her Loss it was gay jokes just because he kinda slightly somehow said stuff in 'sus' ways.

All of it is reminiscent to how homophobic Hip-Hop was like 20 years ago, when a rapper would be accused of being gay for the simplest s***. Now it's politically incorrect for that discourse today, however when Drake releases it seems to all go out the window.

    I think it's a legitimate interesting discussion.

This might be another drake stan victim complex thread

Homophobia is still alive lol i don’t feel like it’s a drake thing

Also I would think Drake is happy about the recent meme and will probably lean into it the next album. Maybe really start to push that angle like thug did

    Hi Roller

he gotta come out first to be homophobia

Homophobia is exhibited towards straight men when calling out anything 'weird' or 'different' they do as gay and attributing it to gay behavior. Especially when it's the most random things that have no correlation to sexuality.

Yeah and drake knows where the money is. I’m hoping his next artwork is similar to Lil Nas Montero and he adopts an even sassier Lil Uzi type flow

When it involves Drake (the goat) people drop the act of being PC. Calling someone gay is now an insult to them like it used to be

Did I miss the part where it’s being used as an insult tho? I thought the memes are people celebrating the song and having fun with the sassiness, not saying it as a bad thing. Always assumed it was a good thing in posts I saw

No, it's very similar to old school homophobia in Hip-Hop when 2000s Kanye and etc had gay rumors just because they didn't act like a stereotypical thug or had one 'fruity' outfit, verse, etc.

With HN it was moreso blatantly homophobia just associating making Dance music as automatically being gay as if straight man cannot like or listen to that type of music.

Yeah I think op is conflating this “sassy” meme with that old “soft” perception

No one is calling drake soft for this album even though it starts with a “sassy” hook. If anything that’s progress. They laugh with the sassiness but still consider the album and drake to be hard pause

You are overreacting because you are a fan of drake. The same things were said about Beyoncé's album when it came out too. The genre these albums cater to are intertwined with openly gay people who make jokes about it.

  • wonder what would happen if Drake started dropping the f bomb in his music

They're calling him gay because he sounded sassy. Does every gay man sound sassy and paint they nail like the memes or is that a malicious stereotype of gay men?

I kinda agree, not specifically towards Drake though

I don’t get why it’s okay to call people gay as a joke

Maybe they are actually gay and don’t want it talked about, or they aren’t and are just expressing themselves.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m able to tell what jokes are like a lot of the rich flex memes are just harmless jokes but in general its kinda weird its okay to call people gay for expressing themselves. It reinforces stereotypes about gay people
