tyler the creator is pretentious, to me, because despite his large success he chases cred from Akademiks audience while, in my opinion, dismissing the humanity of Akademiks' viewership with the "oh you're big homies are in and out of jail," my big homies are jerrod carmichael, pharrell, jay z. I believe, and i didnt believe this 5 years ago, he makes his music to be out to be more than what it is. If someone thinks his albums are the best things since sliced bread I will not tell them they're wrong though
this is a solid take but i think youre stretching the degree to which tyler is “chasing” attention from more street oriented platforms and audiences
i mean he put dj drama on his album to showcase how much he appreciated street hip hop
i get what you mean by his comments may sound dehumanizing but i dont know how much of that actually crosses over into his music
hes a person whos expressed his desire to explore spaces outside of hip hop since as long as i can remember, but hes never post maloned it or diminished the importance of street hip hop imo
