Someone like Tyler is pretentious. Kendrick isnt hes very important to the culture
Interviewing 2pac was the only pretentious thing hes done imo
def liked it as a kid tho
mans are really in here saying kendrick is pretentious for making concept albums and not using social media
@2words gotta explain what he meant by that. He said that concept albums are pretentious in nature
Remember when that hoe ass nigga Duckworth pulled up Sherene's house and was scared to get out of that busted ass mini-van because some dudes asked him a question about who he was here to see.
Type of dude who would lock his car door when he saw black people approach the car before he started rapping and now grew the naps out now he's MLK and Malcolm X
Drake took his licks like a man, Duckworth needed Cole World to save him
Yea I'm taking the bait
Drake took his licks like a man, Duckworth needed Cole World to save him
Yea I'm taking the bait
some make millions others make memes
I want to press my like, yeah, I wanna press my
I want a green light, I wanna be like
I wanna press my line, yeah
I wanna take that ride, yeah
I'm gonna press my line
I want a green light, I wanna be like, I wanna press my—
Mama, dear, spare your feelings
I'm relivin' moments, peeling more residual
(I can) buy the building, burn the building
Take your b****, rebuild the building just to f*** some more
(I can) justify my love for you
And touch the sky for God to stop, debating war
Put the p**** on a pedestal (Ayy)
Put the p**** on a high horse
That p**** to die for
That p**** to die for
Peter, piper, picked a pepper
So I could pick your brain and put your heart together
We depart the shady parts and party hard
The diamonds yours, the coupe forever
My best shots might shoot forever like (Brr)
one of the worst verses of 2016 and I love Kendrick

Making a concept album generally has some level of “look at me I’m so smart and deep” attached tbh. I’m not saying this as a completely bad thing, honestly I like pretentious music

I don't think you actually realize how stupid you sound, imagine trying to put labels on creativity and artistic choices
Does this apply to movies or books that follow a theme or it only applies to music because this is something that only few artists can achieve in music? stepping out of the box always seems as "weird" until it becomes a norm and everyone follows suit, that's why y'all d***ride artists that copy each other and suck each others d*** when artists are influenced by others, no wonder why music is so watered down and artists that try to push the art further are looked at as "pretentious"

To me pretentiousness is just about how seriously something takes itself, concept albums usually take themselves very seriously and it’s extremely rare for that not to be the case. Going back to rock operas and so on. I’m not saying just cause they’re a little pretentious they shouldn’t exist but at this point in my life I think a more subtle natural approach is better for music and albums than an over intellectualized approach. Kendrick’s music makes me think more than feel and that’s not ideal for me. Untitled Unmastered is his best album imo because it’s just music, it has the themes and power of TPAB and DAMN without coming off as calculated and self serious

Doesn't matter what pretentious is to you...that's not what it means....
And this makes absolutely no sense.
His best album is UU even thought it has two entire songs with him mumbling. Shut up goofy.

This ain’t Kanye, Kendrick ain’t mumbling on there
And it basically is what it means lol
I feel like I explained myself well, it makes sense you just don’t agree
This is also why Kanye is a better artist than Kendrick, both make great albums but Kanye’s come off more natural and enjoyable, Kendrick’s come off more “am very deep, this is important”

You didn't explain yourself well.
You said an album that has two songs that kendrick is literally mumbling on is better than his rest albums because they are conceptual. ...that logic makes no sense.....
And guess what Untitled Unmastered is conceptual as well.
He reads books unlike J.Cole who he thinks he is
we only want him pretending to do it

Yes..up until TPAB he said this...I'm not sure what he currently does
Cole actually didn't say this. Read again what Cole said.

I know it’s conceptual but it’s not a concept album. That’s the key, it doesn’t force it, the themes come through naturally
Which songs does he mumble on

I stand corrected then good looks
