I taught an English class today that a***yzed the rhetorical strategies used in Nelson Mandela's Rivonia Trial speech. At the end, I spent a solid 10 minutes summarizing the impacts of apartheid on South African society and pointing out parallels to what is still happening in America today.

I'm white and find it really easy to hate white people. Can't imagine how everyone else feels.

im a white american, but my whole family is Latvian. I've always had my own language, traditions, and culture to draw from. Most white families tho gave all that up generations ago to avoid discrimination and receive the full benefits of white supremacy.

hip hop's origins and even where it's at now has always been about being the voice for the people ! it has always been about what it means to be black / spanish in an urban enviornment from lower to middle class background.

the "hate" for yt ppl on here isnt as much genuine hate or "racism" (lol) as it is a defense mechanism. city blocks are being gentrified day by day. we are constantly inching further away from the power hip hop had in giving a voice to the voiceless. in an industry that has so many white people exploiting black people, i 100% believe it is within every black americans right to protect the cultures they identify with.

this is a real socio-economic issue that nobody has answers for. and with the state of the economy rn, i think lets give a little grace to the race of people who are still owed reparations, and who continue to be disproportionately affected by the onset of our global climate crisis.
