I was in kind of a bad mood all day today and I just listened to some music and feel such relief, deep in my soul. My thoughts changed and the bad mood disappeared. Lol like I dont get it, why does certain sounds make me feel happy/sad/etc

the way I understand it there are two sides to the human brain, the unconscious and conscious. the only part you can actually describe and explain is the conscious, which are symbols like words or images that appear in your mind. the unconscious is the part that's indescribable, but it's just like the conscious because it's a collection of symbols that basically float around your head and transform symbols into other symbols.
when you're a baby you only have access to the unconscious mind, so to communicate with adults you're forced to result to gags or screams or cries, symbols of communication that are closer to the unconscious.
well somewhere along the line in human history someone found another way to communicate their emotions, which is music. it's just as complex as language as a lot of cognitive scientists have suggested, because really it's just organizing pitches in a certain pattern and timing just like you would organize the intonation of words or cries. we can even identify what groups of notes cause certain emotions: Minor keys usually carry the melody of sad music, while Major keys tend to make people happy.
It's all the same s*** really. Words, sounds, languages, music, pictures, and paintings. it's all just symbols that we use to communicate with each other that float around in our brain that we attach to other symbols. It's just like how all energy is able to turn into other energy, symbols turn into other symbols by math functions constructed in our unconscious.
