What does the gov gain from supporting them?

Conflict in the Middle East.

It's mutually beneficial, the US gets a powerful ally in the middle east that doesn't hate their guts for bombing them and destibilazing the region for close to a century and Israel gets added protection against their neighbours.

Because Israel is surrounded by countries that wanna destroy it and America wants to loot those same countries resources and Israel can help them do so. It’s all corruption in all sides.
