abel really dethroned all these rnb cats like lloyd and the dream
Lloyd and The-Dream both made better music than the Woeknd
Lot of yall starting to turn into R&B Boomers/Old heads.
@op posting one of the singers literally responsible for this birth of this kind of style of singing proves yall don’t really know what yall talkin bout.
That type of R&B still exists. And the genre’s barely mainstream for yall to hit me with the “nOt In ThE mAiNsTrEaM” excuse.
show me examples then
JMSN slander
I used to listen to JMSN heavy, but he is really overrated
I used to listen to JMSN heavy, but he is really overrated
My boy not even popular enough to be overrated
I think for the most part song structures have gone out the window .Most songs today are like some basic 4 line verse and predictable chorus to boot . Just hoping for the production to carry everything

Like i said, already proved my point lol.
But f*** it.
Because being a dark RnB edglord that can sing makes the big bucks
They can't even sing these days man smh game all f***ed up
They can't even sing these days man smh game all f***ed up
I feel like not having social media saved a lot of 2000s r&b singers from having some of they raw unaltered studio sessions come out
Also @op tryna act like there wasn’t hella mid “warm” r&b as well. Some joints you dont even remember or would even wanna play cause of the unimpressive vocals or lyrics was just bad (sHe LiKeS tO gEt InTo cOnFroNtAtiOn
wItH Meeeeeeeeeeee)
Remember that one?
Singers aren’t singing beta cuck chit anymore.
Nah it's still cuck s*** cause they singing about being heartbroken side niggas. Kinda lame s***...

Nah I do agree I wish subject matter was more expansive.
I do like R&B that sings about like, life s***. Not just a nigga or b**** (g. Neutral) every time y’know?
guys can't really sing anymore and aren't growing up in the church
We lost touch with god, that’s why the R&B so cold!

it's definitely a factor. lack of true producers who can guide sessions and arrange records. now a beat maker can just send a folder, they throw on a beat, freestyle some s*** and voila.
the producers like JDs, Puffs, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Rich Harrisons, Irvs, etc. are dwindling. a lot of s*** is DIY now and based on "vibes" which is cool too. but it makes me appreciate artists like The-Dream and Anderson .Paak for giving that feeling.
He is probably the most overrated R&B artist in history, his music isn't very good for real RNB fans, he appeals to people with a low level of comprehension in the genre,
Why do you say he’s overrated? I mean I wouldn’t say he’s super slept on or “underground” but I don’t think he’s that big enough to be overrated. But my definition could be wrong.
And What would say is “Real RnB” compared to JMSN? I like his music.. but Never compare him to anyone and if I do he’s leading the way in the lane of my white “ivory soul” acts lol
Nah it's still cuck s*** cause they singing about being heartbroken side niggas. Kinda lame s***...

Need to hear a nigga really singing bout struggle on his Jaheim s***. This trap R&b s*** is cool but I remember back in the day they really pushed singing “thugs”
