Real, what episode?
first of all fire to see this much hype on Flowdan's name, he's been an underground legend since like 2001 in the UK. I didn't even realise most people even remembered who he was lol
But I disagree that's what blew Fred up. He's been producing hits since at least Stefflon Don's 16 shots which from memory was about 5 years ago.
The thing that made me know about him as an artist was the Headie One collab EP he did, which I think is a lot stronger and more interesting than his solo music tbh.
But he's clearly insanely talented. Trained by Brian Eno, can play classsical piano, improv, write scores and produce beats in any genre he wants.
I do think some of the solo songs are following a formula he's got going but that's sadly probably what it takes to build buzz these days. doing the same thing that's worked once for an artist over and over again.
That being said some of these songs are incredible - his remix of Brittany Howard's Stay High, Billie (Loving Arms), his co-production of Jayda G's Both of Us, Stefflon Don's 16 Shots, the whole Headie One GANG EP, FKA Twigs' Don't Judge Me. Some of those are classic level music to me
I'm more into the bass music circles and in and out of house music (not feeling the tech house wave currently). Flowdan is definitely dope as f***. The American 140 Dubstep artists loveeee "Welcome to London" and "Horror Show Style" flips so I hear those pretty often at shows and festivals. If you're curious about some artists making waves in the American 140 scene check out Ternion Sound and The Widdler. I dropped a couple of set links at the bottom of this post.
Gotta say I listened to Fred Again's new album recently and it's really good though and different from a lot of the house music being put out these days and liked it. Hope he starts a wave that more artists gravitate towards in the house genre. I knew he had a background in pop music production, but didn't know the rest of that stuff. Appreciate you dropping that knowledge, gave me a deeper respect for his work. Gonna check those remixes out you mentioned too!

That makes me so happy to know lol thanks for posting fam
Yeah the new album definitely had a few songs I thought were very strong. Fred's best stuff is up there with most producing right now, he's great. And also hope him blowing up makes the industry push other uk electronic artists who have a lot of mainstream potential but are also influenced by underground styles. Nia Archives should be a star imo.
Can't believe this album overshadowed Streetlands EP
no one cares about ambient burial
