He had the formula down but him always being upset about the lack of infrastructure behind him and essentially not magically having hundreds of thousands of dollars from what he’s done so far to continue building his thing out is a perfect example of how the climate has turned on people who try to do that
What would Kanye be without Roc a Fella / what happened to Lupe without Atlantic behind him lol
how is this lyrical when its the most basic rhyme scheme possible lol

I think we need a standard definition of what lyrical means because there's so many different opinions in this thread alone
Drop em if u find em
He deleted them s***s smh
Honestly, I think artists need to study guys like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, s*** like that. More substantive while still being a bit primitive in delivery and wording. But these new artists are too stupid and follow trends/brainwashing tactics too much to do that. They will usually just default back to Carti type s*** or whoever else is popping because they have been trained to do so. They want to be "rockstar" so bad but they only care about the image side of things, not the soul.
The influence of black music stopped being music and became “what white people think black music is” so this aint happening

Rap that utilizes multiple poetic devices & plays with rhyme schemes in ways atypical to how the average rapper does it.
@Slapfiendd neph and pap could if they wanted to
Ghais, $ilkmoney, kenny mason, paris texas, redveil, la reezy, etc. are definitely upon the list of rappers of this modern era that are definitely making an effort to push lyrics through “non-boom bap” means.
Turns out the machine be working against niggas huh lol.

Honestly there are rappers who can rly flow on these beats its actually not easy to make these kinda songs work so its pretty rare

even if u do this there's only one type of 'lyrical' most people will ever accept. if u deviate from the abstract~conscious~political~drumless~boom bap model then people refuse to see any ingenuity in the rhymes
cause there isnt an audience for it, i feel like the beats new rappers use these days are meant for someone to lay out a lyrical conscious verse.

What “they” call underground hates lyricism lmao
kinda sad because it honestly didn’t even in the early 2010s era that influenced the later soundcloud stuff and even today (if we’re talking about cloud rap/memphis rap revival, etc.)
thinking about raider klan and a$ap mob mostly
