What is it with you and glentothe putting words in people's mouth lmao at what point have I said Im OK with harassment? At what point have I said I think everyone in the community is good? At what point have I said anything about the ends justifying the means??
Your point is bad because it only serves to justify bigoted behavior from people who are just looking for an excuse to be queer phobic lol, if "nobody cares" like you said then why should they care about any of this s*** then?? Nobody gives a f*** aboujt harassment either, queer people face a s*** ton of harassment on a daily basis buuuut you don't hear much about that in public debate and discourse, but somehow everybody's an anti harassment activist when streamers get a few comments asking them to not play a game 😬

I’m not continuing this discussion with you.
I think it would be pointless and wasted everyone’s time.

Stop watching Vice first of all.

Progress has stalled because barely anybody cares about making progress. Like virtually every other identity-based movement, it has been willingly given over to corporate and capital interests to do whatever they please with. Progress (i.e., material change and organization taking action towardd it) has been gleefully replaced with "progress" in the mainstream, where the utmost importance is put on images, symbols, and identification that will never result in anything more than superficial distractions for people who are bored and unfulfilled in their middle-class existence.

Legalizing gay marriage wasn't even much progress to begin with. The biggest change that resulted from legal gay marriage was same-sex couples being eligible for marital tax benefits. Gay couple could always have a ceremony and spend their lives together like any other married couple. There is nothing special about the state officially recognizing your relationship.

That empty sentiment is just the capstone in the bullshit mainstreaming of gayness (and other subcultures) that has been going on for the past 35 years. Asking "why has progress stalled" today is stupid. It's been stalled for over three decades ever since idea of making gay people safe enough for mainstream consumers to enjoy started being celebrated.

It's still insane to me that legalizing gay marriage was such a media blockbuster when fortune 500 companies and regional powerhouses have always (and still) tailor the language of their training and disclosure materials to either include or omit protections against employment discrimination in regards to sexual orientation based on which state they are hiring you in, or sometime which state the company is headquartered in.

Watching s*** like that Vice video or scrolling through social media looking for anti-gay bullshit all day can make anything feel dangerous. Sensation isn't reality. Unless you're living in a 1200 population Mississippi or Alabama town where local bars wont let you inside if you're hat is turned backwards, there's no rational reason for any gay person living in metro-America to feel in danger. If gay people were actually in danger then we would see a lot more of actual action and collectivism towards material change instead of a s*** ton of "ong did you see this? i am scared" reactions to fearmongering media nonsense.

maybe what you say at the end is true for white gays (idk, I have some doubt) but black gay ppl have many legitimate things to fear, regardless of locale (and it’s not just bc of race but precisely the precariousness introduced by that intersection)

^ see the above is the problem, you can’t talk about your own observations and experiences without getting this s*** in response; which is ironic as the LGBTQ movement is about respecting peoples identities and experiences. I am well aware of how the media bias is demonising trans people I can see it in the rag newspapers here every week, but when you’ve got people shouting transphobe or throwing abuse at people because they may of accidentally misgendered people either online or in person it plays into the hands of right wing bigoted f***s. Trans people want to be treated fairly and how they identify as but their obsession with their own gender is not felt by everyone else and if I or anyone else who isn’t an intolerant f*** accidentally misgendered someone in a store or anywhere else it would be a mistake and I’d apologise the problem is it doesn’t stop there though. The key thing here is that you can 100% support trans people AND critique some of the behaviour the two things aren’t mutually exclusive but so many people forget that. “It didn’t happen” okay sure buddy

Well no one is going to argue in good faith w someone who begins comments w s*** like “trans ppl have hijacked the movement” like wtf does that even mean? Hijack how? By what means, in which spaces? You’ve introduced incredibly vague rhetoric that is only productive as a means to inspire discriminatory reaction, showing no care or sense of kinship for an already heavily discriminated against group.

Lgbt is definitely not accepted by almost everyone lol. Especially the transgender community. Maybe if you live in a coastal very liberal city. But for the country as a whole they still got a long way to go

Absolutely not lol. People don’t even believe the B exists. Homophobia at an all time rampant in general

  • Mar 3, 2023

    Because straight people be wylin'

  • Because p**** ass liberals won't put their money where their mouth is and defend the LGBTQ+ from the obvious happening around them.

That f***ing Hogwarts game was a hideous s***show from both sides because no one bothered to do the research into JK Rowling stating near verbatim that supporting her or this game would be tantamount to supporting her transphobic bullshit.

There are few places to go after you're being labeled as a "groomer" but the way you cowards are looking at it, it feels like Roe V Wade wasn't the wake up call you needed.

The answer is self-defense. I and every able bodied queer underneath the sun needs to be armed and ready at a moments notice. If any of you liberal idiots reading this are willing to defend us with more than s***ty ass rainbows, I would suggest you get armed as well.

The Proud Boys are already armed at schools where drag queens are having storytime reading to children. I'm not sure what more you f***ing need.

Homophobia will be solved the same way everything else gets solved in America: lots of bullets in lots of bodies 😀

    A multitude of reasons tbh

    • a lot of people forgot it’s a marathon not a sprint and started taking preemptive victory laps in the Obama era not thinking into the near/distant future of conservative pushback. Enter the Trump era.

    • The evolution of social media and the increased fear mongering. The irony of conservatives grasping on to “fake news” when they are demographic of falling for it. Also hotep homophobic bullshit like homosexuality being a means of emasculating the black man and destroying the black family unit.

    • Progress is made by people actually in the field putting in the work. The ones really taking the blows to get s*** done. No progressive movement has had success without the people willing to sacrifice potentially themselves for it. That being said, that’s just not what’s happening these days. It’s all about sharing a post on Facebook or Twitter these days and screaming “57 mutuals with this homophobe” it’s mostly a virtue signaling game for interactions these days.

I can confidently say the world is more transphobic and homophobic than it was 10 years ago. The controlled opposition worked. It’s all division.
