The whole drag s*** is empty sensational media and political nonsense. It is not nearly as big of a deal as its made out to be. If it was then RuPaul wouldn't have just celebrated the 200th episode on drag race on their 3rd major cable network with a $200,000 cash prize with giant corporate sponsorships.

What started as a reaction towards drag queen book reading for children at libraries — a couple of which are admittedly definitely not okay and i genuinely cant tell if it was done by trolls, intelligence agents, or brainrot radlibs who actually think they are doing something good — has evolved into easy news media lay-ups and political campaign talking points about drag in general. And like 99% of media and political campaign topics, it will more likely than not go absolutely nowhere and is only being used so whatever group/person pushing them can maintain or consolidate power in office/media.

Just because articles and social media posts are saying this is something to be worried about doesn't mean it is. More often it means there's nothing to be worried about.

red states are actively working on or introducing legislation to ban drag shows in public, some of them even implying that people would not be allowed to be publicly trans

    Tennessee enacting a ban

It’s more than just sensationalism or trying to rally constituents

i love they try to "protect kids" in these states, but still can't give s***education or even proper historically accurate education from those states

but before that the explanation is that cointelpro decimated the actual left in the united states which is where all these bourgeois concessions we have now come from. and with all bourgeois concessions they can just take them away at will once the revolutionary moment has passed.

    krishna is still here?

OP said "I remember when same s***marriage was passed. Now it just feels dangerous." Thats why i stuck with gay people. Im also gay and i dont speak on behalf on trans people

I didnt prove anything or say that lack of collective action means lack oppression. I said that if people actually felt like they were in legitimate danger (in contrast to exaggerating feelings online because thats what screen life breeds) then they would probably be doing a whole lot more than complaining online about it endlessly or staging pointless protests that get 20 minutes of media coverage and are instantly forgotten because everyone went home to complain more online

The rest of your post is concern posting that causes brainrot

I'm pretty sure trans people are doing a lot more than s***posting online and "staging pointless protests". is how much time the media spends on an issue indicative of its merit? you're also acting like meaningful organization is incompatible with spending time online. just a braindead and moronic argument overall, even if you're strictly talking about gay people

not sure how you got "concern posting" from me saying trans people face vitriol and that public opinion can change which seems really obvious given the tendency of ruling class to exacerbate differences to prevent unification of the masses along class lines

"oppression doesnt exist dude its just the internet get off the internet" f***ing dumbass lmao

Tennessee ban is a ban on shows in public places and limits them to age-restricted establishments, which changes very little since the vast majority of drag shows are held at bars or venues centered around the sale of alcohol (just like most comedy venues require ID because of drink minimums), and often involve lots of adult humor and sexual content. What exactly is the real issue with this besides the gut-reaction caused by a headline that says "State bans drag queens"?

As for the other states that are supposedly planning/writing legislation to ban drag or "being trans in public" — I will come back in this thread to quote you, wholeheartedly apologize, and do a complete 180 on everything on I said on the 0.00000001% chance that kind of legislation makes it past the first proposal stage. Holding drag shows (especially in age restricted venues) or being publicly trans doesn't violate freedom of expression consitutions in the way that say public nudity or indescent exposure does. It just wont happen.

Again, i don't speak on behalf of trans people. Nothing in my post was said in regards to trans people.

Because the trans community has hijacked the movement and are- probably inadvertently, alienating people to the push for equality because of how over the top and in your face they are about their gender identity when us non-bigoted people couldn’t care less about their gender. This is just an observation as the community doesn’t reflect me, I’m all for people living how they want to live. A couple of my gay friends have said that they have observed trans groups trying to exclude LGB people from marches and parades as well which goes entirely against the movement which is about inclusion and equality. I think a lot of the trans lobby manifests itself as anger which is often misdirected.

This never happened, the inverse is way more likely

trans people should just stop being trans tbh and they would be way more accepted

And yes i do believe spending a ton of time online is incompatible with, or at the very least is detrimental to meaningful organization in most cases. The only people who have been able to do both are very fringe, extreme rightoids because they form very tight knit communities that are entirely focused on a single objective. There is nothing for them to get distracted by or a smorgasbord of issues and objectives to flood their discourse with. Everything they discuss circles back to a single objective that all of them want.

^ see the above is the problem, you can’t talk about your own observations and experiences without getting this s*** in response; which is ironic as the LGBTQ movement is about respecting peoples identities and experiences. I am well aware of how the media bias is demonising trans people I can see it in the rag newspapers here every week, but when you’ve got people shouting transphobe or throwing abuse at people because they may of accidentally misgendered people either online or in person it plays into the hands of right wing bigoted f***s. Trans people want to be treated fairly and how they identify as but their obsession with their own gender is not felt by everyone else and if I or anyone else who isn’t an intolerant f*** accidentally misgendered someone in a store or anywhere else it would be a mistake and I’d apologise the problem is it doesn’t stop there though. The key thing here is that you can 100% support trans people AND critique some of the behaviour the two things aren’t mutually exclusive but so many people forget that. “It didn’t happen” okay sure buddy

Yes progress has stalled because the trans community has approached the problem wrong, because they’re too mean online.

Not because of continued systemic oppression and reactionary agendas being pushed by Conservatives in office.

Only reason people say this s*** is because trans people are still doing activism to demand better rights and any type of below the surface activism is seen as a nuisance nowadays
