I was playing 2K yesterday and this thought came into my head, why aren’t there any games like this? Imagine being able to create a custom artist and simulate their career, be writer/producer and make hits for artists or similar to manager mode in games like FIFA be a label head and manage a stable of artists.

I just wonder how a hypothetical game like this would be executed? Would it be primarily text based and how in depth would it be, like would there be fleshed out contracts and financial stuff pertaining to royalties and revenue splits?

Lmk what you guys think I love to hear your thoughts on these things?

How would u make a game where u could choose a diverse range of production options, vocals/lyrics, AND have a reasonable way to evaluate the quality of your music?

There are very few, even on the indie side. Popscene is insanely hanky but technically still playable. Otherwise, It’s not gonna be entirely music based, but Stranger Than Heaven (upcoming Yakuza spinoff) is gonna have a really detailed minigame about hearing sounds in the environment and incorporating them into full songs

I guess to make it interesting it would help if you can hear the actual music, which sounds like a pretty impossible task.

Yea I think it would mainly have to be one of them text based role playing games for it to work, and in terms of the quality of the music made by the player character just have some sort of stat system that determines how good of a singer/writer/producer you are that’s a great question
