Nah very organic, Her come up was natural and even this site was posting her music for like a year
some big magazine did an "expose" (lol what is journalism in 2022) on nepo babies. i think nepo baby will probably the term going forward
ive been around a lot of industry plant niggas going to college, and it made me realize
you can have an abundance of connections and resources. does not guarantee you success in the industry. like at all
of course u have a higher chance. most of the ppl i see with 10k+ followers and tik tok numbers, feel so obviously inorganic that media consumers that are nerdy enough to be on ktt, are bound to be ignored
there's still plenty of plants out there with decent popularity. you're just not hearing about them, because they're not going to be in ur social media orbit. but trust, there's plenty of plants. it's just gonna be awhile to one of them really blow up to super star level, because you need a rare mix of creativity and talent.
a lot of ppl hate to admit it, but given the resources a lot of these plants do have talent. like real f***ing talent. but the creativity is lacking. and honestly it takes time to be a really creative artist and come into your own. i have no doubt that, we're gonna see in next 2/4 years someone big who when you look at their family, you'll without a doubt know why they're famous
they moved to putting all the industry plants in the indie rock scene instead
im ngl i've seen, experienced more rap industry plants than indie personally
because someone will make a Tik Tok or Twitter thread exposing them and waste all that money and effort lol
so they either want you to have something going before they fw you or they just hide them Better now lol
that last part
media consumers smart af these days, but they know its a game
u gotta be a really rare mix of creative minded and talented
the game now is to go hard on a project with all ur resources and then change names/projects once you've built a following
when you've built that core following, u gotta have a manager or pr ppl with the weight to pretty much wipe ur entire history off the net
I wish they would plant Mariah the Scientist already. I WANT to see her pretty face on every ad banner and forced twitter thread. PLEASE
There’s too many outlets to listen to music so the conditioning factor is all but gone
Every year social media grows, and as it grows it lessens the avenues that labels have to condition and monopolize the audience
So when you think about what an industry plant is, it’s really IMO when labels push the button on an act and monopolize all outlets by putting the act on them frequently. But in 2023, if you don’t like someone it’s never been easier to avoid them.

the fact that they actually have talent is a key part, its the same (ppl def don't like to hear this) with legacy admits. if you had a parent who went to Ivy University, lets be honest, u probably (not necessarily, not always, we all know dumb kids from rich and smart parents) have inherited the abilities and benefited from the resources of your parents and become pretty intelligent by the time you're 18.
but does that mean they're top-tier brilliant, the academic equivalents to a music industry superstar? no. and does that mean they're necessarily deserving of getting in over some kid with as much intellectual talent but less resources to hone it? no. but just as in music, they're going to have the inside track to get the opportunity, and some of them will take advantage of it, and actually be top-tier in what they do
What’s crazy is that nepo baby article revealed a lot. Acting/directing nepotism is crazy. So many kids of famous actors trying to act and s*** and actually doing well.
Some cases, there have been kids of actors who have eclipsed their parents.
But music… I can’t think of a single famous musician who became more famous than their super-famous parents. I might be blanking but no one stands out.
I wish they would plant Mariah the Scientist already. I WANT to see her pretty face on every ad banner and forced twitter thread. PLEASE
I want them to push Rico more she's literally talented. They're missing out on an easy bag letting her be niche
Ice spice isn't good but i would say she isn't a plant because she's basically just a drill saweetie clone
Glorilla on the other hand is CLEARLY an industry plant based off already put on a major tour and cardi feat
You don’t see a lot of break out artist anymore if you think about it.
golder next tho fr… iykyk
Central Cee
they moved to putting all the industry plants in the indie rock scene instead
Like who my brother
golder next tho fr… iykyk
Gonna check him out. I think RX Papi is having some really good momentum right now. He can blow up 2023

bc music doesnt make the cultural impact or money to really be worth it
music only works if ur looking to make bank from it in club settings these days
that’s why the rap game has such a crazy money politic to it
it’s just not really the same money to be made in music that don’t bang at a club, hence why reggaeton and afro beats are the future of the industry
i genuinely can’t fathom how taylor swift is still the biggest artist
Gonna check him out. I think RX Papi is having some really good momentum right now. He can blow up 2023
haha i’m kidding golder is a band i’m in 😭😭
don’t listen if ur expecting rap music
rx papi will be up next for sure for sure
Idk. I honestly don’t see a problem with an industry plant so long as they don’t pass themselves off as fully independent.
It can be really hard for someone whose main thing is just making music to understand and handle the ins and outs of marketing and s***, so I wouldn’t fault an artist for employing some help, if the help is available.

You really think it’s that important to wipe your history from the web?
I mean I publicly said really stupid s*** as recent as last week, but I figured people would just understand I was being stupid and not care, since I am much better when I’m being serious and/or composing myself.
Then again, maybe I’m giving people too much credit
