I don't talk on here but since I just heard Dear Mama on the radio, so I had to. Why is Dear Mama is the song that people go to for Mother's Day?? I mean I guess it's the signature song for Mother's Day but why doesn't Hey Mama get much love??

2 pac is a legend brother
Yes it was, lead single even
You right, that makes sense. I remember it was a hit single. I just thought Hey Mama would got bigger after Oprah show performance or '08 Grammys performance. I just wanted here different reasons why.
I think its because of the songs having a different tone and message. Dear mama was more of a song detailing growing up in the hood, overcoming d*** addiction, and recognizing putting her through hell. And hey mama was more of a feel good song expresses his love for his mother being there.

Grammy performance
I ask myself this all the time. I was a huge pac fan when I was a kid so it’s not even like I’m biased toward Kanye or anything. I just honestly think Hey Mama blows Dear Mama out of the water.
Even when I was a huge fan I couldn’t stand Dear Mama. Just felt forced and crybaby-ish. And as a song it’s just not even that good.
Hey Mama’s writing/lyrics are better, and the sound is IMO better than almost any 2pac song out there, and it’s not even top 20 Kanye.
I will forever think that 2pac was overrated as an artist.
Biggie forever.
Cause it came out first i guess.
Hey Mama still better
