this topic is done to death though tbh, move to pop/r&b or some s*** in the meantime and wait for the genre to right itself
s***s cooked rn
boom and bust cycle is natural in any industry
What rappers would you say have incredible potential that isn’t being tapped into?
Youngboy, Lil Baby, Polo G, Kodak Black. Just some names off the top of my head

I think Lil Baby reached his potential but I agree with the other three. At least commercially they all could be way bigger. But as far as straight music, they’ve been dropping better s*** than Cole, Drake and Kanye. Kendrick ain’t even in the mix cause he took a 5 year break

Everyone you named reached their potential tho, super early in their young careers too, the numbers are there. How much higher you want niggas to go? Lmfao

Their potential as artists. Do yall niggas even read a thread before commenting

Yea, originally coming to comment on “why hiphop is dying” how about you stick to one thread topic nigga
It's because no one cares...
Everyone is looking for the new-age rappers that will surpass Kendrick, Cole, Drake, Kanye, etc. but none of these niggas care...
Most of these new rappers will never reach their full potential because they're either comfortable overusing a formula that's made them a lot of money or they stretch themselves thin by freestyling and punching in all their songs. They ain't sitting down and writing their songs or perfecting their craft. None of these niggas really hungry anymore. No one cares about being the best anymore. Everyone is just comfortable getting a bag in their lane. And fans will still glaze them and call em the GOAT when these niggas are lambs, nobody has to earn that title anymore...
How can any of these niggas reach their full potential if they don't ever push themselves?
This is why Hip Hop is dying
this like the same convo with young players in the nba this bigger than just music & sports
this like the same convo with young players in the nba this bigger than just music & sports
Most of the young players have been living up to their potential some even exceeding it
Kendrick, Cole, Drake and Kanye haven’t made the best music in rap for a long ass time tbh lol
MMTBS out now.
But I see your point.
motherfuckers say they miss when hip hop was rappin, motherfucker if you did Killer Mike would be platinum
These threads when topaz jones is right there show people like @op are the real problem
Most of the young players have been living up to their potential some even exceeding it
Not even, just not hungry like that tbh most are ok with having 20 ppg & nothing else
There are artists that are taking their time to craft good music. Yall just dont care or listen to em because they dont have a cosign by a superstar or an athlete you like (coughanylightskinfemalerapperrappinglikesheboredciacough)
Paris Texas right there
Kenny Mason right there
Tkay Maizda right there
Dave is right there
Little Simz is right there
Ghais Guevara right there
grouptherapy is right there
Yall just dont care.
What rappers would you say have incredible potential that isn’t being tapped into?
Kodak could be even better imo
Not even, just not hungry like that tbh most are ok with having 20 ppg & nothing else
Nahh lol. This is the best the league has ever been when it comes to young talent
Btw, this isn't even just a hip hop thing.
Blink-182 is having more success than the majority of newer bands rn.
Almost no current pop star is reaching Taylor Swift's or Beyonce's success.
And so on and so on.
Gen Z just isn't as obsessed with music as previous generations. Gaming, social media, and podcasting have filled in a void for many of them who would've been more into music a generation or 2 ago.

Nigga what?
We got two 7 feet twigs that are doing unhuman s*** rn
the artist aren't the problem.
The people in charge of ushering in the next "drake" or "kendrick" (The A&Rs, the Managers, the Playlisters) don't give a f*** about the culture or artform. They are the problem

I think the idea of a Hollywood celebrity is dying off and being replaced by influencers & content creators

Anthony edwards saving the league

Each of them have easily cleared Cole.
Kendrick has been out for 5 years.
Idk about you but I’m def taking these guys over s*** like Ye, and JIK.
Drake is the only one who’s arguable and imo Kodak and YB have better stuff than him
