The climate activist, Greta Thunberg from Sweden, got TIME Person of the Year. I do believe she's a top candidate for this annual front page issue of TIME (only because she was a really known person this year), and I'm not a climate change denier, but her actions have not turned out to do anything for us people or even for our planet, as she continues to blame world leaders for not doing enough, even though she, herself, don't have any plan or ideas what world leaders should do instead. It just turned into s***show of bashing western politicians instead of real actions.

That's why I think R. Kelly should have been the person of the year, instead of Greta.

And I know some of you guys are going to bash this because why should a monster like R. Kelly get a "great" title like TIME's POTY? Well, POTY is not about doing great things. It's about impactful event(s), that got people talking and thinking differently of the persons action.

Definition of TIME POTY is "for better or for worse... has done the most to influence the events of the year".

And here is why R. Kelly should have gotten the front page. In the beginning of the year, people knew about R. Kelly's disgusting past and all his allegations of him having sexslaves. He was known for 25 years as a pedophile, since he was trying to marry 15-year old Aaliyah, to his Goldenshower VHS collections, to minors coming forward of him raping them, to his ex-wife coming forward about abusing her, to young woman was held as sexslaves etc. This didn't stop R. Kelly. He was still going strong with his music with #1 hits. Even when the stories of him holding sexslaves for the last 5 years, didn't stop top artist like Lady Gaga, Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson, Chance the Rapper, Justin Bieber and Rick Ross from making music with him. People might have been a little buzzed at the beginning but stopped when people started to not care about it anymore. Hell even people like Dave Chapple or the creators of Boondocks did parody of how people didn't care..... until this year.

The documentary "Surviving R. Kelly" finally got people attention of this mans abusing of children and black women for over 25 years. We were blinded by a talented successful black man with an angelic voice, that we people didn't wanted to believe that this man could hurt anybody, even when we saw how many allegations were thrown at this man, that we still ignored it. Now he is finally, after many years of ignoring it, standing trial for his actions. Throughout the year, R. Kelly was slowly getting more and more attention, from the Gayle King interview, to his ex-managers speaking up, to more sextapes of minors have been collected, to his "girlfriends" at the time who denied all his allegation later turned and said he was abusing them, to him getting in court and finally standing trial... and it's not even over. Part two of the documentary, with more evidence is airing beginning of next year.

We were shown, that no one really cared about black women. We turned our face around, when this predator kept abusing them.

Even though when I wrote this, I actually wanted the victims to be POTY, but I do believe some of the accusers were really not victims of R. Kelly. Sorry, but some of the girls were not really victims of R. Kelly and only in on it for personal gain, so I don't believe they should be POTY.

R. Kelly on the front page, would have shown the world that we finally cared and we were all a******s for many years. R. Kelly really influenced everyone to send him to jail and would be a power move by TIME to put a pedophile stamp on that motherfucker on the front page

Don't know if you heard about some of the girls actually did it for family interest or something, but I don't think that if there is possibility of fake accusers, than they should not be on the cover. It's more a power move to put R. Kelly's face on and call him Person of the Year. The accusers would be the reason for all this anyways. It's more a wake up call to us for not doing anything for these girls and that these girls had to make us wake up to understand what was going on, that was known in public for many years

Not really an award tho.. TIME POTY is not about selecting “good people”. This is not Nobel Peace Prize. This is about the person, for good or worse, who have influenced our society.
