Because people expected it be a rodeo part 2. It's the same reason why people hated Huncho Jack because they wanted them to make Oh My Dis Side type songs

It was cool for a mixtape but aside from a few highlights its a step down from Rodeo and it unfortunately is gassed up alot more then it should be because that was the album that catapulted Travis commercially

honestly that album was good to listen to while working out. I played that album almost every time I was at the gym for a year. good workout music tbh

Trav said that Birds wasnt like an album album, more like a side project. He was supposed to be working on Astro after Rodeo but this aesthetic caught his eye and so he decided 2 do an entire album just focused on that sound / feeling. imo he definitely acomplished that, this is easily his most focused n consistent album, every song matches the vibe v well
