In my words this is a provocative thread to get the people thinking
Not much to think about. Heteronormativity is very strict.
Happy Pride Month everybody.
I love pop music. I love Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, you name it. Why is it that liking these artists and other similar ones perceived as "gay"?
Then if you like Lil Durk, YoungBoy, thats that masculinity testosterone bops? I don't get it. They rap about passing holes around to their homies probably feeling each other's dna on their parts.
Whilest all my favorite artists do is make me feel like a confident empowered bad b****. It just doesn't add up. Is it merely internalized homophobia and a fear of feminity? Why does pop music and female rap get stereotyped like this?

Nobody thinks it’s gay we just wish there was less pop stans who view rap as a joke posting on a rap forum

cardi the only new female rapper I see straight men proudly bump

Self fulfilling prophecy amongst the artists respective fan bases.
ABBA have 30+ perfect songs, Madonna has 20+ perfect songs, CRJ one of the best album artists of the past decade. Nothing gay about good music
Everyone you mentioned in the op caters to the gays. Kylie, Jessie Ware, hell even Beyonce. Its been said you can't be a real popstar without them. Definitely not now
honestly you shouldn’t talk to ppl who judge you off your music tbh
A very good rule in and of itself

Initially i was gonna say bc of male insecurity and internalized homophobia like you did
But lady Gaga and nicki have majority gay fanbases and I think lady Gaga specifically has like made music from an lgbt space.
it's the same level of disconnect
little Timmy on r/chiraqology doesnt own any guns and hasnt sold any d**** and has no real opps on no real gang s***
so Spice the poptimist may not have a p**** or finesse dudes out of their money but its the confident bad b**** energy that is universal
A demographic’s identification with music isn’t just so much about relatability as it’s about values. A straight man, regardless of his experiences or lifestyle, can relate to the more traditionally masculine values present in street rap as opposed to the more traditionally feminine values present in female club rap or pop
