Because Travis opened him up to a much younger fanbase by co-signing him as his favorite rapper

I don’t think that’s why tho, Travis don’t be doing corny s*** like this or rapping about it. Cudi be on social media too much, social media full of people he’s trying to appeal to these days

This exactly what I said in the yeXcudiXpete thread. A lot of Ye stans started d*** riding after Pablo. While s***tin on SBTH. They back to s***tin on him. Cudi need to realize real niggas gon f*** with him as long as he keep it real

Most of those types first became Ye fans with Pablo lol

Needless to say that was also the first time they heard of cudi. I think they started riding him harder after Kids See Ghosts but they also don’t really see him as an artist they just see him as a Kanye side project or something

It’s partly that but also partly the new era Ye fans who started listening to hip hop in 2016, which is the loudest demographic on the internet in my experience

Travis doesn’t but I feel like this is cudi’s way of showing the kids that he’s still cool and youthful.

Like MOTM3 didn’t really feel like a Cudi album worthy of that name. Felt like he was tryna keep up instead of doing him. First Cudi album that felt that way

    Cudi in 2010

“Broads tell it, cudi’s lame, Wearing a kilt, he must be gay”- Cudi on his second album in 2010

He caused some controversy wearing a kilt in 2010 which inspired Ye to wear one for WTT era, it’s funny that whole debacle of “kilt-gate” might be forgotten lol

I can definitely see the criticisms of cudi going through a midlife crisis but let’s not act like this didn’t happen

@Infrared the kilt is a sign of Scottish rite freemasonry. Cudi wearing the dress is most likely connected to him reaching Masonic godhood. Gender fluidity.

Many rappers wear the Masonic kilt, from Cudi to Rocky, Snoop etc. Dwayne Wade as well. Remember Kanye started wearing kilts and calling himself a god.

Nah I feel you fr. It also shows in Cudi’s shows his concerts before Pablo were more raw and full of originality, after Pablo he slowly started acting different. Even his livestream with ye at the KSG he was awkward (Original Cudi personality) after that he was a whole dif person, his humbleness just left

You was around in 2010 right? Cause back then wearing a kilt might as well have been a dress, there was no difference lol, at the time that was equivalent to going full dress

MOTM 3 felt like a Travis inspired Cudi album. It’s like Wayne and Thug. Thug use to sound like Wayne til Wayne started sounding like Thug

Even if it is totally different, you can’t really say if someone wore a kilt 10 years ago and wears a dress now “whoa that came out of nowhere! Never saw that coming!” I know you were around back then so surely you remember how big of a controversy there was surrounding this? I guess you do forget because Ye wore it after cudi, was inspired by him. And people were absolutely fuming at both

Not really. A dress is a dress and a Kilt is a Kilt.
Even his lyrics now sound like he’s appealing to the kids when back then he’d just say what he was feeling. Last real Cudi album was SBTH or PPDS

I can understand where you’re coming from about the lyrics

But the distinction between a kilt and a dress, in hip hop, you sound stupid as f***. You weren’t around when it happened?

Yes I was and also when 3k did the same.
But neither of them were almost 40 at the time. Cudis s*** feels forced. The closest we got to the real Cudi was him rushing TMZ after the Super Bowl

You’re not wrong but I’m just saying, is it really fair to say that cudi wearing a dress is coming out of nowhere when he was wearing skirts a decade ago?
