Thoughts on JIK: I really do think JIK was an experimental album to test the waters. If you listen to Jesus is Born you can obviously see Kanye still has the same skill as he did before.

he did some very stupid/bad things the last couple years that made people want to be anti-kanye in general regardless of context. and he still hasn’t recanted the trump or “republicans freed the slaves” rhetoric despite publicly being corrected. despite becoming more spiritual, he’s still very prideful on things that he’s very wrong about that actually effect millions of people’s lives and fans (die-hard or casual) still are rubbed the wrong way by it. and barely trying on his very forgettable recent albums isn’t helping either

not at all bro. most of the songs were very basic retreads of old styles. most of the songs are just very basic in general. he wasn’t really trying at all when compared to any albums pre-2018
