is there anything anyone can point me to about the process of porting silent hill 2? just been doing research and all the weird failure piqued my curiosity !!
Konami lost the source code for the release build.
so when they try to remaster it or port it, it is from an earlier buggy build

How do you just lose that

Really? How tf you lose an entire game's worth of code?

I'd imagine that a lot of games in the early-mid 2000's were probably stored on physical drives in the building instead of servers that were remotely being worked on and constantly being backed up. So if the drives fail or get lost during a move then that code is lost for good unless there was a backup lying around somewhere.

Final fantasy VIII too
