It depends though on regions, as a NYC Nigga I vastly overrated A Boogies popularity in the mainstream, and Pop Smokes. I though MTW2 would do 75k first week lmao
I seen posts here calling Roddy a meme rapper and saying he got a meme hit
the box had a lot of meme potential

A Boogie might not be super super popular but his numbers put him solidly in that 7-10 range for his era. He moves units even if ktt dont wanna admit it

mf's act like a song getting popular on tiktok just makes it a meme song
Yea Drowning was unavoidable my senior year and you couldn’t avoid the Hoodie Szn tracks either
I really don't get it. It's even stranger because most of the time music forums only discuss mainstream rap and r&b. Some of the takes online are nearly breakfast club tier. Someone explain
bc the type of person to browse a forum online is by nature not the "average music consumer"
this forum in general is not out of touch
the takes on baby, gunna, boogie, dababy, youngboy, future, cole, drake, and a few others say otherwise
no one is not out of touch everyone lacks information regarding musical dynamics in some way shape or form
the “mainstream” crowd of casual listeners that are on social media don’t really like it care for smaller more nuanced artists, technicalities behind music, or things that go on in the background and play extremely based on their own basic tastes and what they see on social media
the “hardcore” crowd of stans and forum browsers and other music nerds hyperfocus on technicalities and buzzwords etc and don’t get mainstream phenomena. They also end up tunnel visioning in that regard
the middle ground of this is the “redditor” or the “twitter music nerd” who apply a hyperfocus on the technicalities of mainstream artists, making them out of touch on both ends of the music spectrum and thus making them some f***ing losers
reddit though
yea I had to move from there. They have been dicussion on big threads, but they are so out of touch and its a dead subreddit 90% of the time

Yep
Yea but I could barely avoid his music, especially when he just came up. When his mixtape dropped I was convinced he was like NBA Youngboy current level popular in the mainstream , the way everyone in the city was playing him
