    I cant believe there's no multi-quote on this forum still. This is such a basic feature. There are so many occasions where I have to make multiple posts when it could have been condensed into one and its frustrating.
    This site is really not getting the features it needs to improve the user experience.

    This cannot be done, there’s no way to append a second reply inside another. And the original posts cannot be modified.

    Bro we mean
    quote two different posters in the same post
    like if I quoted you and then @Tom_Savini

  • Dec 9, 2020

    You cannot quote two posts at once so I was confused by you saying “easier way to do this”

    @S hello

    youre wanting to quote two different posts within one reply right?

    can I just get an idea of some situations that you'd want this for

    Conversations linked by a common theme.

    I want to emphasize that I am much much more interested in what it would take to implement a search function within either a thread or within a section

    what's the issue w just doing two separate posts? any implementation of this would take you just as long to do it as to just reply to the other person in a second post

    Well no it wouldn’t, the idea is you would essentially “queue” the posts and when you went to open your post editor the quoted posts you selected will appear in the editor.
    This exists on Xenforo, I can try to find an exampel

    @safe What is the blocker on implementing a search-by-keyword for a section? Or even just within a single thread?

    How about thread sorting? Sorting by most liked, etc?

    ok so within a section is available rn

    on desktop its on the sidebar on mobile its above create thread

    in terms of within a thread I mentioned it to Scott, I definitely think it would be useful - probably not a priority rn but hopefully something down the road

    there is a reason that multi user replies aren't in place rn

    its something that ill make sure to keep on the cards w Scott to see if theres a way to work it that won't screw other things up but definitely send a vid or something of that xenforo thing if you get a chance id be interested to see

    This only searches for threads not individual posts!

    said above but the within a section is doable

    thread sorting idk
    we're gonna definitely explore how threads are sorted by default and maybe that will result in sorting options being available like some soft of 'Hot' algorithm and an option to sort by New or something???
    but thats definitely something we're exploring - again not up the top of the priority list but ill make sure it stays being explored

    @Sex

    just replying to both of you here (ironically multi quote would be useful here)

    I agree that would be useful. ill mention it to Scott again tomorrow morning and see what he thinks - there might be a reason he hasn't already implemented it. I think its probably more likely that you'd get something like the search the section by title and then if you click a thread you can search for posts within that thread rather than being able to search the entire section for a specific post within a thread

    also to some extent you can do this with google if you write ""keywords" site:ktt2.com" it will return just results for that from this site

    Also whats the reason

    lol I think its probably under wraps but basically the site has some frameworks built in to give more functionality at some point in terms of layout and stuff and multi quote directly creates issue w that

    whether those changes get implemented and how they get implemented is different story and I promise that ill try and figure out a way that works w that framework to do it but its not gonna happen super soon unfortunately cause there are other fixes/changes being prioritized rn
