Do the underground niggas have a pipeline to the mainstream?

Lone and Ken are exceptions because they are under Carti I feel like.

a new rapper could come out with a track on a beat that sounds like some John Cale s*** and ktters would make the same "generic", "carti clone", "newgen" comments if its some 17 year old kid. im confident most of yall don't even click play on these songs.

Neither have a dropped a true "single" that could be conceivably be played on the radio

Although I feel like if the industry pushed 1 (one) "jerk rap" song from one of these dudes the right way, it'd be a huge smash

if im listening to the cocteau twins, nobody is roasting them because of their lyrics. it just sounds good. thats whats happening here, but for some reason that aint enough for yall

i listen to everything from boards of canada to linkin park to osamason, its all great music

Cocteau twins arent rappers and if they were as fundamentally unskilled as these niggas the equivalent would be their music being off key lol

as a producer my whole thing was tryna find the balance between making a crazy beat and making something someone could rap on. im a pretty sick musician but its hard making dope beats that are also usable

Nettspend effortlessly exercising complete control over a beat that 80% of rappers would pull a hamstring trying to rap over

This a pretty basic standard 4/4 beat bro.

Actual beats rappers would break a blood vessel tryna rap over

A 17 y/o rapping over noise of you instead of distorted 808s that cherry bomb the mix so much you cant even hear what niggas are saying (even if we could, it’s mostly the same autotune rap a lil ahead of the beat type of flow similar to the video you quoted) would actually be cool cause it would show that 17 year old actually listening to other genres instead of soundcloud “underground”/rap twitter ran by non black people.

The thing is, ppl say carti clone because OVERALL it seems like everyone is stuck on WLR. And I get for the newgen some would call that a landmark from the production to the type of rapping.

But treading new ground has always been what breaks the mold. These new kids just aint got that x factor that’s gonna stick around once these 16 year old kids grow up and experience more of life’s discoveries beyond a fake perk and turning up.

At least those of us that grow up that dont use 16 year olds as a litmus test for what’s HoT

Cocteau twins arent rappers and if they were as fundamentally unskilled as these niggas the equivalent would be their music being off key lol

They always bring up genres or bands where ppl have like…put years and time into versus insert loop

Realistically any of us in this forum can replicate what these new kids do.

And before yall say what yall going to say: “blowing up” is not part of the question as we all should know by now that relies on external factors that got nothing to do with the music.

Not a lot of or anyone itt can replicate elisabeth fraser vocals.

    And THAT’s the difference.
