well the the way it is rn is a bug. but one scenario where not showing "1 like" by default for everything with a single like is: two people replying to eachother for 20 posts and each post has 1 like from the other
theres a hundred scenarios like this that you should explore and think about in depth if you want to have a feature which explicitly signals a user's feeling about a post to the site and to other users
theres so many cases where likes tell you nothing, and there are cases where they tell you everything. and the first takes away from the letter
