I’ve had dreads before but I cut my hair and let it grow for 2 years hoping to get some braids after. During this time I let it matte up a lot and I was doing minimal shampoos and combs. When I finally did comb it all out, I found that the back crown area of my hair was only an inch or 2 at best while all the rest of my hair had appropriate length. I had a gambino looking fro but I had to cut most of my s*** after seeing the back not growing. My mom is a beautician and she thinks it’s just because of how bad I was maintaining my hair for those 2 years and sleeping on my head, but I’m nervous this is going to persist no matter how I try to protect my hair. Am I absolutely cooked? Has anyone else dealt with something like this?
your mom is probably right, u can try to take better care of it and hopefully it grows more, thats rly ur only good option
this why im tryna not cut my hair for like the next few years at least
I been a little insecure about the hairline recently, but I should be grateful that it isn't worse
yeah OP it sounds like u weren’t taking care of ur hair. I had a bad haircut and had to do a big chop too. it’s time to start oiling ur scalp i fear
edit: and get a silk bonnet
if anything hair on the back grows even faster than the front, so you are indeed cooked my friend
Lots of men start thinning at the crown first.
Start wearing a yamaka and forget about it you be alright

Thats your problem
Maintenance, and if its too long of a neglect you can do permanent damage
Go get it professionally treated @op so you can restart and not be permanently f***ed
