I mean...majority of the players are black. The NBA has become more of a player's league in the last decade. Shouldn't be too surprised to see their outspoken about it. Even moreso since NFL players don't normally get to do that as football is the most popular sport in America, and many Americans are racist sacks of s***, so an NFL player speaking up has a higher chance of impacting an NFL team's owner's bottomline IE: Kaepernick and the 49ers.
