over the years ive seen many contributing users slip up momentarily and be perma banned from the forum. sure they can just make an alt if they can figure out how to get passed the IP ban, but i think many otherwise good quality posters have been removed from the community permanently thanks to those bans
since we have ktt2 i think its time to re evaluate this policy.
if users are permanently banned, it removes people from the community who are interested in it and have worthwhile contributions to make. it essentially lowers the qaulity of the community. there are a limited number of people out there who are intersted enough in the subject matter of this site that they would join it. we should try to preserve the user base not destroy it.
but i know what youre thinking, "how do we deal with s***ty destructive posters and trolling". the answer is temporary bans with increasing duration. if users really value being part of the site, they will stop breaking the rules to avoid long term bans.
if we stop perma banning people, it will result in a richer and more cohesive forum community.
