Y’all don’t get how hard it is to write catchy melodies for mfs with virtuosic singing voices. The music business is the catchiness business and for pretty much every western genre that comes down to melody. Vocal melody writing is made for/out of specific vocal styles, so with the normalization of average singing voices and non-singing voices, catchy melodies are being made by those types now

And with the gradual changes in melodic standards for mainstream songs, what the audience feels are catchy melodies are less suited for great singing voices and incredible performances. Basically hiphop becoming fully melody changed what worked for everyone
