What’s up with these 2 broads acting hella weird together LOL
They been doing hella d**** together that’s why they look like sticks compared to when they signed on to the movie
Now they re in some bizarre d*** laced relationship
I don’t know why they aren’t taking advantage of the color grading discourse and pushing to see it in Dolby because it looked decent in Dolby.
The movie itself was decent. Part 1 is better. No Good Deed and For Good were the best songs.
I had an issue with how the plot conveniently twisted itself to fit The Wizard of Oz. Took me out a little bit.

thats easily the biggest issue with the movie/play. imo the story could be alot better if it just did its own thing and was like an alternate version to the Wizard of Oz story rather than trying to fit into it
just got out of my showing.
while not as strong as the first movie, I thoroughly enjoyed this film, even with its slightly darker tone. Cynthia and Ariana continue to give incredible performances, both musically and theatrically, with the For Good song being one of my favorites of the duology. my main issue comes down to the pacing. it was extremely slow in the beginning and then hit a breakneck speed towards the end, especially as it tried to weave in plot points from The Wizard of Oz. it weakened the overall narrative the first part had established. additionally, there weren’t many strong character moments or as many grand set pieces as the first part. overall, I had a great time, but when it comes to future rewatches, I’m throwing the first part on every-time.
7/10
Although Ariana’s solo song isn’t great that sequence with all of the mirrors was really cool
i try not to be dismissive but the only thing running through my head was "not a serious movie"
Knew it wouldn't be for me and it's wasn't but happy for the people who like it

Sounds just like the first one, slow ass pace till last 20 minutes, unmemorable songs except for one or two, lots of non songs just singing their lines
There's a dark irony to the film that I think a lot of people are missing
speak on it
Cutting both movies into a 2 hour single film would be the best way to consume this material, diabolical amount of padding

You want an immediate answer or something longer and more thought out?

Y'all wouldn't say this about any other fantasy series. Get off it.

thought out. i loved the movie/both of em, and i also broke down og wizard of oz numerous times for its own commentary in quite a few HS and uni classes. Im slightly aware of what you might say so I'm interested to see if you see the same

1. By the end of the movie, Glinda has seen the only two outcomes of being a magic woman with power over people: being machiavellian like Morrible or an outcast like Elphaba. So even though Elphaba helped her read the Grimmerie, Glinda still most likely will be a villain of some kind.
2. Nothing Elphaba did worked other than saving Fiyero. The lion interrupting the No Place like Home song is the best example of the movies dark ironic subversion. She has no plan other than "expose the wizard" and the animals realize she can't protect them whatsoever.
3. Every character in this movie is disappointed with the decision they made in the last movie. This is probably why some reactions don't connect with the movie. Also, it would've been way too expensive to use direct references to the '39 Wizard of Oz. So Chu doubles down on how the stage musical sardonically makes backhanded references to the movie. But people expecting the climax of this movie to basically be 10 mins of re-enacted Wizard of Oz had to be pissed.
