I feel like most major are holding albums until they have the all clear to start touring again. Could it be 2022 before we see guys like Cole, Kendrick, and Drake release their albums?
Possibly but people are going to put out tapes, eg the Durk/Baby tape.
I do think there's some hope that huge tours will resume in 2022, so we should start to see some big releases this summer. Correct me if I'm wrong, but labels like to give people a few months for the songs to marinate.
I mean considering that Rolling loud Miami is really happening, I’m not sure if the music world is still being restricted by covid

IMO that'll be a big test. If there actually is a really bad third wave and we have to lock down again (not that Florida would actually lock down I assume RL would be pressured to cancel), music's going back into hibernation...
But if it goes off without a hitch, we're going to start seeing big releases.

Yeah I think everyone’s got their records geared up for the summer and they’re just secretly waiting to see if there will be another spike
Really feels like that's what's happening right now
SL2 felt like the first major hip/hop release of 2021 and I mean it was just a compilation tape lmao
Everything is a bit dry atm, am hoping that the partial return of live shows later this year will at least provide us with a few major late-summer/fall album releases

yeah this is probably most of the entertainment/conference industry right now.
I'm pretty sure that barring any freak mutations that the vaccines don't work against, we should be good by November/December.

Yeah to be fair it seems this new spike coming up has just recently peaked. Hope it keeps going down but at the same time not everything has fully opened yet. I think these new variants came in because of schools trying to re open so that’s still one challenge.

yeah I'm getting that feeling too. what I'm worried about is the hard core of people refusing to get a vaccine, and that that'll lead to a 'homegrown' mutation that's similar to SA and Brazil. but that's maybe being alarmist...

yeah I mean there’s always going to be a certain minority of a population that doesn’t get a vaccine and the world still goes round, so can’t see that being an issue
If it’s more like a 30% kind of minority, then maybe that’s a problem, but I predict it’s gonna be 10% or less

Yeah you’re probably right
