Replace “America” with “people” and it’s pretty clear that the answer is no. Things will just get worse and worse because people are getting worse and worse. For all countries, not just the US. And yes, it is because of the internet and social media.

Nah, you didn't ask a serious question. I'm done entertaining stupid questions with serious answers. I just tell you that you didn't give me a serious question and move on.

By certain metrics sure. I think most of the issues that we’re faced with today are hard to measure, try as they might, and are even harder to address.

Totally because of social media and not wealth inequity and the housing market crisis

Its peak glory was an absolute disaster for the "third world", socialist countries, the environment, indigenous Americans, non-white Americans, and the global poor. It was a ruse from the jump and America's best decade, the 60s, was brutally undermined by neoliberalism in the 70s onward.

You can be pro-capitalist if you want, I don't care, but the US made a turn toward fascism from the 70s onward and the results have been horrifying. The "peak" of America as you describe it was only good for wealthy white Americans. It was literal hell on earth for everyone else. Look at what they did to Michael Jackson, Southeast Asia, Afghanistan, Vietnam, black America, the American working class, Eastern Europe in sum, and Iraq during this time frame. Absolute nightmare.

we used to be on top and be proud to be from, i remember everything being good like going to the mall and just being able to enjoy the entire day there.

    now most malls are graveyards

wtf is going on? we used to pride ourselves on being the best and the past few years we've been seeing a rise in anti-intellectualism since Trump

mfs think its cool to be dumb. covid showed how much brainrot had affected alot of the american discourse

we used to go fight in wars against nazis, now gen z is too busy making REACTION TIK TOKS and scared to talk to women

Anti-intellectualism been on the rise since at least Reagan my guy

I don't think people realized that tabloids absolutely psychologically destroyed Michael Jackson. There is no public figure in American history who suffered from such an intense form of body dysmorphia than Michael Jackson. We watched and made sport out of the psychological and physical destruction of a talented black man because he was more famous than any of his counterparts and better than most of them too, which pissed off white American entertainment execs at the time.

Didn't his father heap a mountain of issues on him before the tabloids ever got him?

    Not denying that

But many fathers do the same

MJ made it abundantly clear, as does history, that the media made rigorous and deliberate efforts to absolutely destroy this man. The American public and media made sport of tormenting this man and ruining his life because he was talented, famous, and black.

Acting like Chappelle and plenty of black people didn't also roast him?

Acting like Michael didn't outright say there was nothing wrong with sharing his bed with children? I honestly do not want to get into this but I just think you're crazy for lumping MJ in with all those other things

    Mike is a creep

I'm not referring to those allegations

I'm referring to people saying the guy slept in a cryogenic chamber and making fun of him for having vitiligo for 23 years

Criticize him for what he's actually guilty of, not his skin condition and timidity. He was a punching bag.

Dave Chappelle is a bigot too.

I see. Fame on that level will ruin anybody, especially when it's acquired so young. Tragic but not really on par with the other things about "peak America" you listed.

Obviously not the same, pretty stupid I included it.

I just find a quarter century being dedicated to making fun of a black man for having vitiligo and being shy to the point where it basically killed him to be pretty bad. But obviously nowhere near the horrors of war and torturing the poor/working class.
