I’m not forcing my kid past high school tbh. I feel like if you really put your mind to it with today’s resources and internet and technology, you don’t need to spend that much money to sit in a f***ing lecture. Thoughts on this ?
degrees are a scam. i dont know anybody who learns more in school than from what they teach themselves online

Ongod
prob for most professional careers yes
We need an Uber but for university
i wish i could've skipped high school and just went to college
high school was a gigantic waste of time
college is expensive as hell which i don't think it should be, but most people i know with difficult jobs that require high education went to college and seem much better for it. nobody should be forced to go but we definitely still need it. i don't imagine that most scientists and highly skilled engineers learned what they did from youtube, rather university classes, job experience and trade schools

But Is it worth the crippling debt ?

sometimes. but like i said, it should be more affordable if not free considering the return is an aid to our government to keep the country running like a well oiled machine

It shouldn’t require you to go into crippling debt. That’s the problem, not with the education itself but the bloated costs of it all. That will change.

You mean a whole system of making money’s just going to stop

yes nice 1
a better educated and well equipped population is good for the economy.
@Jayzintherange one of the reasons why university is seen as such a scam is because academia really is only accessible for the middle class/rich people and made for them.
if it continues you’ll find that you’ll be lacking in skilled professionals especially in STEM related fields. University should be made a lot more accessible and companies need to stop exploiting students. Unpaid internships are another way how all this stuff is for the rich mostly.
Even the UN has unpaid internships in some of the most expensive cities. I know the people they hired were mostly kids of diplomats and others from well to do families.
School is not a scam it is a business though. Went college and I got what I wanted from it didn’t like it and thought i was wasting my time though
Going to college in the states though!? For that much money now THATS a scam f***ing backwards ass country
education is very important so yes, school will be a ting in the coming generations.
Hopefully we start getting changes on the pricing of college (At least regulations to make prices fair) because right now it's crazy.

Fr. When I was 6 I was already reading the craziest s*** on Wikipedia. Learned books like 48 laws of power stuff like (obviously not at 6), Ancient Greek philosophers, and just amazing art from Wikipedia. I’m not saying that compensates from school but my thirst for knowledge helped me look at life different from a young age.
