Will probably realized they could take back the award and so he apologize to Chris if that wasn’t the case I don’t think he would’ve apologized

i think he would've apologized to him regardless

    what are you talking about

Im being a little fast and loose but I just don’t get why some ppl itt n elsewhere acting like he DID THE RIGHT THING ©️®️™️ and that sometimes when people cross a line you have to PUT HANDS ON THEM©️®️™️ , or apologizing is weak. It’s not just here n I know everyone like for greasy talk it’s diff but not everything has to escalate in violence.

I compared to things of different severity obviously, but these threads always find the route to moralistic debating about when violence is justified. I just don’t see how we seemingly have simultaneous discussions lauding it and lementing it at the same time

Like how much do we want this to escalate when I’m the end we know a lot could be solved verbally with a convo rather than agresiva physicality.

What happened is like a bitter taste in the mouth after tasting an apple that announced itself to be rotten. It was only a matter of time before the call to silence stopped being a scream of rage, and became a hand that stuns.
The focus of the discussion particularly bothers me: “are there limits to humor?”.

There is, but it's not what you want. Physically assaulting someone who has made a joke is pushing the limits of humor. Morally, and judicially.

But this is a hand that touches other bodies. It's about the legitimacy of someone assaulting another whenever they hear something they're not comfortable with. It's about fighting words with punches, in the vain hope that they will pass out. It's about someone attacking a comedian, and the question is, "Didn't the comedian cross the line”? If this sentence read aloud is not contradictory, then there is little wick left for dialogue.

At the ceremony, there is no security to interrupt the moment, there is no one to protect Chris Rock's physical integrity, there is no police to take him to a police station.
There's a cloud that gets bigger, that you always saw with the lens out of focus, and that yesterday corrected the focus. The aggressor sits in the same place, watches the entire gala, with Chris Rock having to follow his work. Will Smith still takes the stage to receive an Oscar, and receives a standing ovation. And Chris Rock, who is still armed with only words, continues with the weapon he has. That weapon so dangerous for the ego: the joke. On the internet, I'm surprised by the number of people who say “He deserved it to see if he learns”. What a sweet virtual reality this is, where no one has ever said anything that could hurt susceptibilities except the comedians. Where yesterday, in that punch, all the evil is revenged on that terrible threat that is humor.

Accept that, and what's left? Who is safe if the referee and the rules change according to the direction the wind blows?
What should be discussed today was not Will Smith's punch, but Chris Rock's resistance.
To legitimize what happened is to accept that the world must bow and shut up in the face of what bothers. And what's left afterwards?
There remains someone who, alone in the middle of the desert, dies of rage for not having anyone to beat.

Eh i think it’s worse to be wrong and not admit it vs seeing a mistake and apologizing. What is the point of grandstanding for the sake of appearing unwavering when you know and believe you were wrong?
