CDs and vinyl have long been used by popular artists as add ons for bundle sales. I have two After Hours CDs for no reason after buying tour tickets.

Now, CDs and vinyl won't count until shipping date, so traditional rollouts, combined with special edition physical media, might be a new way to capitalize on big releases. Could we see this route bringing CDs and vinyl back as an alternative route to streaming?

no because albums leak when physicals are produced before an album releases

if anything it will do the opposite

That's like asking if putting emission limits on cars means people will start back riding horses and donkeys

So you're saying it'll be detrimental to physical media rather than a positive change?

    yes
the only reason physicals were seeing a resurgence other than the vinyl popularity is because the rules allowed artists to sell physicals copies that wouldn't ship till months later

now that won't happen and it won't be replaced by physicals ready to sell during release week because they have to be manufactured way in advance and they leak early
