So recently there's been a lot of buzz about this site called Top Shot. It's in collaboration with the NBA and they release collectable highlights that are blockchain based and limited to a specific number. Some highlights are going for insane amounts of money like this dunk by the GOAT LeBron
So I was wondering if we will see something like this but with the music industry maybe with album covers or songs idk, but seems like an interesting idea that has a lot of buzz rn
I don't understand.. they just bought a video?

These are just NFTs

It's technically a unique highlight of it, but yes essentially it's just a video.

Ngl, this is a stupid ass idea.

It's just a new way to collect things
Obviously I'm not dropping that type of money, but it's basically a digital binder of cards that you can flex on other people with lmao. I see the appeal
i guess theres a market for anything these days if theres enough nerds willing to participate in the hype, if i pay 200k for a collectible it better be something actually physical in real life like a autographed game worn jersey or pair of sneakers

Stupid is harsh, my bad. I just don't understand the point, so it's not something that I could ever see myself spending any money on. I'd rather have a real collectible card than a virtual one.

What makes people pay that much
What makes people pay that much
To flex pretty much. Actual trading cards go for 6 figures pretty often, so if these have the same scarcity and capture the same idea then it makes them worth that much.
