as we have entered a new era of technology and consumption of all things media, do you guys think we'll start phasing out old terms like "CD Quality" due to things like Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos being primarily used nowadays?

this is an interesting question but i feel like some terms in music stick on beyond their original meaning

like people some still use the word "records" even though they're streaming the music and not using a record player

since CDQ is only a word really used by internet music nerds (i say lovingly and am including myself lol) then i dont see it phasing out unless a more accurate word shows up

CDQ just means that it’s the version officially released. Like not a radio rip with DJ tags and people talking in the background.
