i remember loving rodeo and trying to convince myself how deep the writing was, and if not deep, at least personal and somewhat emotional. and it really wasn’t. there’s little sprinkles in verses but nothing else. and that’s the closest we’ve ever gotten with his music

No, but Travis was never deep. I think everything the artist Travis was meant to be was seen on Astroworld. Rodeo was kind of an accident of “sounding” deep than it ever was supposed to, and people still latch on that idea he could do that again. He can’t, because Travis himself doesn’t know how.
