    Not in the same way it blew up but it still has a pretty strong/active community. The issue is it’s a very online genre and so there’s a lot of gatekeeping and “discourse” amongst the fans. Just look at what happened with George Clanton and his Electronicon festival. Also, the 80s thing has also been pillaged and done to death in the mainstream so there’s not much room for a resurgence culturally

    It's doing fine creatively, just check out what Death's Dynamic Shroud is doing. It's just not a meme genre like it was.
