Not exactly what you’re saying, but Polachek did it for 50% of her album over the course of a year and a half and that album is still a top 10 AOTY critically. The lead single literally came out in 2021 lmao
I definitely don’t see what the problem is for an EP. For a consequential release like your first album in 4 years, I can see why people would dislike that
