That covid f***ed up a LOTTA niggas plans as far as music goes?
The fact this was supposed to be act 1 says a lot ( @atthepyramids i think was the 1st one in the thread to point out how amen transitions to im that girl perfectly) but i understand and agree with why she did the switcharoo (‘lotta folks needed to dance at that moment’)
The fact that through (im assuming is his burner youtube account) that ‘Vent’ account posting all type of Kendrick demos that we probably woulda got that ‘Smoking on your top 5’ type of album says alot. I loveee mr morale but you can tell through references it was very recent (‘i caught covid’ him responding to noname, etc.)
And who else knows? Maybe we get ‘It’s A Boy’ by Cole (I think that s*** got nixed tbh, Im happy to be proven wrong tho)
just imagining the covid less possibilities
Do we know this for certain or is this assumption
I also find it interesting that she’d sit on the album for so long considering it’s a 3 act trilogy… I don’t see why she’d wait a year? 2? Between the two acts if they were done
I was eating good music wise during the pandemic lol. A Beyonce country album ain’t changing s*** for me
most of the songs on mr. morale were from 2018-2020, it was always gonna be a cerebral, therapy focused album. the only thing the pandemic did was give kendrick more time to add a few new songs and flesh out the sound of the album.
i still don't get the "smoking on top 5s" line though, it was definitely misleading for the type of album that mr. morale turned out to be.

I was initially going to put COWBOY CARTER out first, but with the pandemic, there was too much heaviness in the world. We wanted to dance. We deserved to dance. But I had to trust God's timing."

Eh we got fed of course but most folks would say it was kinda slow overall til 2022.

Ohhhhh that’s pretty cool

It makes sense the 2nd half is pretty much a precursor to renassiance

Given that info I still think the release scheme is very odd though but maybe she wanted to give the house album a really big moment by itself due to what happened, and now is giving the other 2 albums their moment
Tbh she should’ve kept the naming scheme imo
