The one that released simultaneously on HBO MAX at a time when people were still afraid to go to the movies during the pandemic ?
The one that was a soft reboot of a film that was hated by almost everyone?
LMAO THEY WERE AFRIAD?!? DAMN THEY SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT THAT ENERGY TO THE JAMES BOND FILM THAT CAME OUT A MONTH LATER AND DUSTED IT IN THE BOX OFFCE. OR FREE GUY. OR THE VENOM SEQUEL lloolololool
what a loser pov.
oh that film that was hated by everyone? it made over TRIPLE what the suicide squad made AND won an oscar.

It won an Oscar for costumes
And yes a very large amount of people hated it, I bought a ticket to go see it opening weekend and I hated it. The film is ass cheeks
I'm not even a huge fan of Gunn's Suicide Squad, but invalidating his potential to save DC by bringing up box office sales during a pandemic and HBO Max streaming deal just isn't a fair critique
Gunn had flops early in his career and struck gold with the GOTG films. Then TSS flopped and he bounced back with Peacemaker that did well on streaming. And GOTG3 will probably be very good

so your point is that the oscar it won doesnt matter bc its for costumes......ya kno...that crucial element that helps bring a film together.
got it.
also who cares if u didnt like it lol. its remake BOMED HISTORICALLY at the box office and ppl like you are trying to carry water for it bc james gunn made some d*ck jokes and had a giant starfish as its big bad.
that movie is ass cheeks and the audience thought so as well. sorry to break it to u
The Suicide Squad got more emotion out of me than any other DCEU film.
That S*** made me care about f***ing Ratcatcher lmao
Saying James Gunn ain’t good at his job is a f***ing lie

YOU brought up the pandemic. that that apparenty didnt affect FREE GUY, JAMES BOND, AND VENOM.
who cares how peacemaker did on a platform that ACTUALLY LIES ABOUT ITS NUMBERS (confirmed and reported on) and a company whos boss has been very explicit in stating that they only care about theater.

unironically who said that????
Idk I’m skimming
for sure.
ya it was never stated. only that his dc movie f***ing bombed historically and the narrative that ppl STILL use to defend it is "well the pandemic ppl were scarrreeedd"
which is just super untrue. no one cared about that movie and its evident in its box office return.

You moved the goal posts lol, but it's all good
My point is that an Oscar for costumes does not reflect the writing and overall quality of a film's story
If you liked Ayer's Suicide Squad that's fine, but the movie is s*** and like i said...the majority of people did not like it at all

...look at my original comment. i asked how his dc movie did. answer: it bombed
youre the one that pivoted to the quality of the first movie and now youre trying to downplay the fact that it won an oscar. and you pivoted bc you know that besides your enjoyment of the remake, you cant deny the reality that the movie is a failure. hell its not even a cult classic. it just exists.
oh yeah totally man, youre right. every other category at the oscars doesnt matter if it isnt directly connected to writing and....overall quality of a films story. costumes never reflect a films story ever.
nailed it

The 3 films you listed didn't have same day releases on HBO Max, and like I already said also weren't linked to a previous film of the same name that people really hated

I gave you context on what played in to it doing bad at the box office
And who said the costumes don't reflect a story , I'm talking quality of the overall film

ppl didnt "really hate" it in a general sense. YOU HATED IT. some ppl disliked it. some ppl thought it was okay. some ppl liked it. and mega chads know that the film we got wasnt even the real film.

you literally stated "quality of a films story"
sorry if you cant keep up with the bullshit that you're spouting.
your context doesnt work when other films did better than it in the exact same pandemic. hell it didnt even do well for home video.
WW 2 was dogshit, but its box office 100% suffered because of Covid and HBO Max. Stop being delusional.

who are u talking to?
Comparing SS and TSS sales also makes no sense 'cause SS came out in 2016 when people still cared about DC. Sure BVS had it's impact by SS had unprecedented hype. By the time TSS came out the DC brand was already dead
